Real-time exposure calculator with precise control over exposure parameters
Dual measurement modes for incident and reflective readings
Excellent low-light performance, including very dim conditions
Broad filter support and multiple measurement units for flexibility

Competitors often emphasize metering-specific terminology (e.g., metering, manual, aperture) that this app does not foreground in its keyword set
Some users may prefer more explicit manual camera controls or aperture-centric workflows that are common in rival apps
Reliance on device sensors/camera for reflective metering may be less suitable for dedicated metering workflows compared to specialized hardware

Comments on Light Meter - Lux, Exposure for Android

★★★★★ Joseph Tan · Dec 2, 2025

I love physical light meters. And this is the best Android light meter app. For $10, you'll be getting something invaluable. Under exposure is detrimental to film photography. Light meters usually give a very good overall exposure of a scene. There can be improved features to the ISO component when the shutter angle is applied. Most cameras that shoot in log starts with iso 800 which is essential iso 100 in normal iso operation sense. Good to have an option to toggle between SDR and Log ISOs

★★★★★ Daniel Rider · Jul 12, 2026

Intuitive and highly functional meter. I had issues with other meters and thought the same was happening here. However, I discovered that in settings, choosing either front or rear camera, OR light sensor can make this very versatile and function correctly for film photography outdoors or indoors/studio.

★★★★★ Sewan Gurung · Sep 2, 2026

I used the free version of the app for a while but had to buy the full version because it is just that good. I have a range of cameras that varies in SS, Aperture and ISO settings and this app meets the need without any issue. The light meter is excellent and has so far not failed me. The detailed description by the app creator on how to use this app is of immense help. The interface is easy to use. I will definitely be looking at the creators other apps.

Good application, I needed to calibrate for my Samsung smartphone, the calibration process is easy and intuitive. Once calibrated with a professional light meter, the results are good to measure incident light.

★★☆☆☆ Nikos Karytianos · Aug 22, 2026

Very cluttered interface. In the free version you should at least be able to select an iso speed in order to make some comparison against a meter and verify it works for you before buying. A big no for me.

★☆☆☆☆ Octa Psi · Jan 7, 2026

Registering 300000 lux, ridiculous. Settings cost money too.

★☆☆☆☆ Dupond · Mar 25, 2026

Begs you for a subscription every time you open the app. EDIT: Devs replied basically saying it's not a big deal that you get a full screen popup every time you open the app. The problem with that statement is, that there are other light meter apps that do not rely on invasive tactics like this. Furthermore, you want an app like this to be instantly accessible when you open it due to the nature of its usage. This isn't "asking for support" it's a very pushy way of begging.
