Life in the UK Test 2026

Unofficial study aid, published by AZSoft. It does not represent any government entity and is not affiliated with the Home Office or UK Visas & Immigration.

Settling in the UK or applying for British citizenship means passing the Life in the UK Test and, on most routes, proving your English with an approved test (SELT) in speaking and listening. PrepaUK helps you prepare for both.

The English level depends on your route: B1 for citizenship; for settlement (ILR), B1 for applications made before 26 March 2027 and B2 for applications made from that date (Statement of Changes HC 1691). The app sets your English goal from the date you enter.

WHAT THE APP CONTAINS

▸ 1,000+ Life in the UK questions based on the 3rd edition of the official handbook
▸ 6 Life in the UK mocks of 24 questions in 45 minutes, judged at the 75% pass mark (18 of 24), plus 2 longer practices that add a listening block
▸ 500 listening practice questions in British English, A1 to B2, and 4 timed listening sets
▸ 60 speaking tasks in 20 scenarios (interview, role play, listen and answer, prepared talk), with model answers, self-recording and a self-check
▸ 14 writing topics as extra practice (not part of the B1 speaking and listening test), with AI correction that needs a connection
▸ 500 vocabulary flashcards on UK life, with audio and spaced repetition
▸ Revision sheets for Life in the UK and a help centre
▸ Smart revision of your weak topics, and a custom mock (your themes, number of questions and timer)
▸ Every answer explained with the key fact or the line in the audio
▸ A preparation score, your mock history and your mastery per topic, for each module

WHAT THE APP DOES NOT SIMULATE

The approved English tests are taken with an examiner or on a computer; most answers are spoken. The app's listening questions have four options, synthetic voices and unlimited replays: they train your listening, they are not the format of any approved test and give no pass mark. Your spoken answers are not marked.

IN PRACTICE

▸ Interface in English, French and Arabic (right-to-left); the content stays in English, the language of the tests
▸ Works offline after the first launch; AI writing correction needs a connection
▸ No account, no adverts
▸ Free: the History theme of Life in the UK, the Daily life theme in English, one smart review a day (10 questions) and a 10-question preview of each mock
▸ Subscription you can cancel at any time
