Comments on Lucid - DayDream Screensaver for Android

★★★★☆ TwITcH HaZ LEET SkiLLz · Mar 23, 2023

I'm loving this app so far. I was looking for a screensaver that did a random order slideshow of a specific set of pictures while phone is docked and/or charging. And this app is the only 1 I found that does exactly what I want. The only feature I wish was added is the ability to dim the screen with the picture slideshow screensaver. You can set it to dim the screen when using the clock, but not with the picture slideshow. Other than that, it's an amazing app. Worth checking out for sure. 👍

★★★★☆ Pete Vickerstaff · Sep 8, 2020

Great app for Android 10 (no daydream). Just what I needed. There are one or two niggles tho. If you start the app using the widget, it ignores the 'Dim screen to 10%...' switch, and if you allow it to start when charging, the clock text doesn't rotate with the screen, Fix those, and it'll get the extra star.

I have an API but the weather still doesn't work. Is there a way of using a different weather service?

Screen saver locked could not access phone. Screen saver blocked tiny off and restart button located behind screen saver. Asked Bixby to close all apps, and that did the trick

Installed Lucid - Daydream Screensaver on my Samsung SM-T720. No matter what I do, only the Time and Music module appear. No other modules work. Developer doesn't answer queries. What a piece of junk!

★★☆☆☆ Markus P. · Jul 15, 2020

I did what description told me to do, but still I can't see Lucid on. On Huawei T1-A tablet (4.4.4) screen timeout is set to 1 min, daydreams is enabled and no dev settings listed in use. The screen just goes dark after one minute. On Huawei Settings -> Screen -> Daydreams there is only options "Picture folder" and "Duration". Can't find Lucid's settings anywhere even the app says so while trying to open Lucid by clicking icon from app launcher. It looks like this issue is related to EMUI and because of that the Daydreams settings would not show Lucid.

Lucid automatically starts when you put your device in the dock or when you charge it. The app is very customizable and comes with a lot of functionallity, like:

Clock: Show the current time & date and can also show...
... battery level
... weather
... unread GMails
... new SMS texts
... missed calls
... next alarm
... many more information from most DashClock extensions

RSS view: flips through new events from your RSS feeds

Slideshow view: start a slideshow with images from your device

On Android 4.2+ you need to enable the "DayDream" in the Android display settings to use & configure the app! Note that the system won't start the daydream if you're display is kept awake! Make sure to disable the "Keep awake while charging" option in the Android developer settings (if you have enabled that before). On Samsung devices, make sure to disable the "keep display on while eye contact is detected" option (or how they call that)

You can use the identifiers here http://developer.android.com/reference/java/text/SimpleDateFormat.html to change the time and date format
