Lumos — Magic Torch

Your phone is not a phone any more. It is a wand.

Say "Lumos" and a spark wakes at the tip. Whisper "Nox" and the night folds its wings again. And when the dark is too thick, call "Lumos Maxima": the wand lets go of all its light and the screen burns white.

FOUR SPELLS, ONE LIGHT

• Nox — the wand sleeps. Night sky, dormant runes, no light at all.
• Lumos — the LED wakes. A warm, steady, everyday light.
• Lumos Maxima — LED at full power, white screen, brightness maxed. Every lumen a phone can give.
• Periculum — the LED blinks an SOS in morse. A magical name for the most serious thing a torch can do: get you found.

VOICE COMMANDS
Hands full? Hands dirty? Standing in the dark? Just speak. The wand listens and recognises the incantations even when you rush them. Plain-language commands work too.

FROM THE SHADE OR THE HOME SCREEN, WITHOUT OPENING ANYTHING
Add the "Lumos" tile to your Quick Settings: pull the shade down and the light
comes on, even with the app closed. Long-press it to open the app. There is a
home screen widget too: one wand, one tap, light. It is the fastest route when
the dark arrives before you do.

OR JUST TAP
A tap anywhere moves to the next spell. A long press returns everything to Nox. No button to hunt for in the dark.

THE WAND IS YOURS
Pick the core — unicorn hair, phoenix feather, dragon heartstring — and the
colours, the runes and the pitch of the chimes all change with it. Never the
torch: that stays exactly as serious as it was.

SWISH AND FLICK
A sharp flick forward lights the wand, one back puts it out. The threshold is
high on purpose and gestures only work with the app open, so the light never
goes off in your pocket.

AND SOMETHING HIDDEN
There are incantations written nowhere. One calls a silver guardian that swims
across your screen. Another trips fear over its own feet in a cloud of confetti.
See if you can guess them.

GRAPHICS THAT LOOK LIKE MAGIC
Drifting starfields, counter-rotating rune rings, embers rising from below, a shockwave on every spell cast. And as you speak, the runes quicken and brighten with your voice: the wand really does hear you. Every screen is drawn, not photographed: pixel-perfect on any device, alive at every moment.

BUILT TO SERVE, NOT TO DISTRACT
• Opens ready to use: no welcome tour, no sign-up.
• The screen stays awake while the light is needed.
• The wand goes dark by itself when you leave the app: no wasted battery, no camera left locked.
• Works on devices with no flash too: the screen light remains.

WHEN YOU ACTUALLY NEED IT
A blackout. Keys dropped under the car. The trail back from the hut. The hallway at night with a child in your arms. A lock in the dark. Camping. The cellar.

A serious torch, dressed as a spell.

Lumos uses the camera only to switch on the LED flash, and the microphone only to hear the incantations. No recording is stored or sent anywhere.
