This is one of the best Android mahjong apps. Use it to practice building hands, taking risks, and more without getting any real money. But you should know the basics of Riichi / Japanese mahjong already. I've never encountered a bug or crash. The controls are snappy. There's no distracting visuals, just mahjong tiles, plus a few characters you can pick to play against. You can minimize/close the app at any time without losing progress. Truly the best free app.

Mahjong for dummies I like the style of this app, I do. But either I'm on the hottest streak of my life, or the AI is not very smart. In my first game I won my first Han-Chan with over 60k points. The color coding of tiles is useful but unrealistic. No one's going to tell you putting yourself in furi-ten is a bad idea in a real game, or which tile to cut to complete a riichi. That being said, I really do love the options and the style. Since I know Japanese, the untranslated text doesn't bother me as much as it might bother others. I am bothered by some of the english translations. "Pon" "Kan" and "Chi" are all misromanized, "Riichi" is now "ready hand" and I forget what "Sumo" was translated as, "Self" or something like it. I feel if you are going to translate some terms, you should translate them all, and since Pon, Kan, and Chi have no translation, you should leave it all Romanized, like every other English mahjong game does. I can't complain about the interface, it's all intuitive, fast and bug free. I have a lot of fun playing this, but then again, I like winning big.

Be careful downloading As much as I love this game I removed it immediately after my Avast discovered a trojan hidden in the game. No other antivirus app found it. Again, it's a great app, but be careful, get avast antivirus from the app store.
