Here’s How It Works

• STEP 1: Complete your Rumi Profile
Interested in finding a roommate? Complete your Rumi profile. You’ll get to tell us about who you are, what you like to do, what you need help with or can offer, and other fun stuff.

• STEP 2: Verification
Your comfort and safety is our top priority. On all profiles, we complete verifications to confirm identity and run preliminary background checks.

• STEP 3: Let the Search Begin!
You’ll be free to view other approved profiles. If you spot a person who seems like a great match, you can “wave” at the other profile. A wave says you’re interested in starting a conversation. If the other party waves back, you’ll automatically get to view the person’s full profile and start a conversation. Ideal match? Great! If not, you can keep looking.

• STEP 4: Start Your New Life
Once you find an ideal match, we’re available to help you finalize your new life! We’ll also facilitate agreements between roommates, Rumi, and case management.

Who Does Rumi Support?

Rumi Supports Individuals with Disabilities.
For generations, individuals with disabilities lacked choice over their living situations. Rumi enables high-caliber, personalized care while facilitating dignity and independence. Individuals with disabilities choose where and with whom to live, and how to receive services – because support and opportunity shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.

Rumi Supports Supportive Roommates (caregivers).
Supportive roommates receive twice the amount of a typical caregiver position, taking home up to $59,000 per year, tax-free. They deliver a designated level of care that works with their capabilities, their jobs, their families, and their lifestyles. A great connection enriches the supportive roommate’s life every bit as much as the individual’s they are supporting.

Generating authentic connections that transform lives is just the beginning. Rumi is an exceptional steward of taxpayer funds. In addition to the creation of high-paying jobs, Rumi is a very low-cost alternative to traditional care arrangements for individuals with disabilities – while enhancing, not compromising – the standard of care.
