Description
The Official MeshCore Companion App!
Send text messages without the internet!
MeshCore is a simple, secure, off-grid mesh communications system. Build your own low-cost, long-range, encrypted messaging network. You can still send messages even when WiFi, Cellular, and Starlink are down.
To use this app, you must have a supported LoRa radio device, that has been flashed with the MeshCore Companion Firmware.
Once you've installed the app, you will need to: - Pair with your MeshCore device using Bluetooth. - Set a custom display name. - and, Configure your LoRa radio settings.
That's it! You can now advertise yourself on the network using the signal icon, and send messages to other users you have discovered on the same frequency.
When other devices on the network have been discovered, they will show up in your contacts list.

App works great! Was able to connect right away and chat in public, discover other nodes, login to a repeater without issue. As a new user to mesh I appreciate the intuitive design to the app. I installed it on older phones and discovered that you may have to turn GPS on for it to connect to your device. Seems like the bad reviews are small nit-picking issues not about the functionality of the app. Works great. Oh and if there's no one to connect to, be the person to get the word out.

Mesh core is an outstanding app that simply works. It's free, ad-free, and delivers a full mesh experience on devices like the t114, HT V3, and t-echo (and other client nodes) Unlike the Meshtastic app, where I couldn't get a message for a month, Mesh core established reliable communication paths within days. Don't worry about licensing—it only affects standalone devices and while it gives you more options, it is not necessary. Give it a go, and you won't regret it.

Seeing messages 30+ hops away. None of mine are being seen beyond 2 or 3 hops. It seems it's not just me. Everyone in my area is experiencing the same thing. Someone's blocking our signals somewhere. Not happy that the app doesn't use the phone's current GPS location to auto-update the node. Also not happy that companions can only advert manually.

I am an experienced Meshtastic user, just flashed a Heltec T114 device and can only manage via USB cable, no Bluetooth. Not impressed. I put it in an upstairs window and will report back if it can see anything. If not, flashing back to Meshtastic where Bluetooth worked, and it could see over 100 nodes. Ok, a day later, zero Mesh Core nodes discovered, flashed device back to Meshtastic and will check back with Mesh Core next year.

Functionality is good, but not open source. I don't understand why the developers just leave the payment function in, and make it open source. That way the community can also help to develop. Now the developer is holding back the development of mesh core because he might get a few dollars out of it.

Trust & Safety: The app requests location, Bluetooth, camera, and notification permissions, among others, to enable device discovery, pairing, and messaging.
