MGRS & UTM Grid: Military GPS

See your position as a military grid, live. FieldGrid reads your phone's GPS and shows it as MGRS, UTM, USNG, latitude/longitude, DMS, Maidenhead, OS Grid or Japanese mesh. Tap to copy, share, or read it out over the radio.

Built for land navigation, hiking, search and rescue, radio amateurs, airsoft and anyone who gets handed a grid reference and needs to find the spot.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Live position with accuracy, altitude, speed and compass heading
• Convert: type or paste a coordinate in any format and see it in all the others
• MGRS and USNG with 4, 6, 8 or 10 digits (1 km to 1 m)
• Waypoints with 11 categories (OP, LZ, HQ, checkpoint, rally point, hazard, medic, supply, car...). Mark my car in one tap
• Navigate to a waypoint: distance, true bearing in degrees and mils, and an arrow that follows your compass
• Offset waypoint: project a new point from any waypoint by distance and bearing
• Radio read-out: your MGRS in NATO phonetic words, digits as 'Niner'
• Import and export GPX files
• Night mode: red on black for night-vision use

FORMATS
MGRS, USNG, UTM, latitude/longitude, degrees-minutes-seconds, Maidenhead locator (4, 6 or 8 characters), OS National Grid and the Japanese standard grid square code. Choose the datum for display and entry: WGS 84, NAD 27, ED50 or OSGB 36.

GOOD TO KNOW
• Works without mobile coverage: position, grids, compass and tools need only the GPS
• No account, no sign-up. Your position and waypoints stay on your phone
• Shows banner ads. A consent form appears first where the law requires one
• An aid, not a certified navigation device. Do not rely on it alone, and carry a map and compass
• The conversions are tested against published reference points; OS Grid is accurate to about 5 m
