Mind Waves - Binaural Beats

Mind Waves generates binaural beats and isochronic tones on your phone. Pick a preset or set your own frequency, choose how long, and press play. It works offline, needs no account, and has no subscription.

GENERATED, NOT RECORDED
Every tone is synthesized live on your device, so there are no audio files and no downloads. The optional background noise is generated on the device too. Starts, stops and changes are faded, so you never get a click or a pop.

PLAYS WITH THE SCREEN OFF
Start a session and lock your phone. Playback keeps going in the background with a media notification (pause, play and stop from the notification or the lock screen), and the session ends on time with a gentle fade-out (off, 15, 30 or 60 seconds).

WHAT YOU CAN DO
- 5 presets: delta 1.5 Hz, theta 6 Hz, alpha 10 Hz, beta 20 Hz and gamma 40 Hz, on a 200 Hz carrier
- Custom beat from 0.5 to 45 Hz (0.1 Hz steps) and carrier from 100 to 500 Hz
- Frequency ramp: move the beat over a session, for example from 10 Hz to 6 Hz over 20 minutes
- Isochronic mode: one tone that pulses at the beat rate, for listening on a speaker
- Pink or brown background noise with its own volume
- Session length from 1 to 240 minutes, or no timer
- Save your own sessions and play them again in one tap
- Optional daily bedtime reminder

WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS
Research on binaural beats is promising but mixed. Reviews find modest, inconsistent effects on relaxation, anxiety and some attention tasks, and the results depend on the frequency and the listening setup. The idea that your brainwaves "sync" to the beat is not established. Try it for yourself and see what works for you.

HEADPHONES
Binaural beats need stereo headphones: each ear has to hear its own tone. Isochronic mode works on speakers.

FREE, WITH ONE OPTIONAL PURCHASE
Every sound, timer and setting is free. The main screen shows a banner ad. A one-time Pro purchase removes it. No subscription.

PRIVACY
No account and no sign-up. Your settings and saved sessions are stored on your device. If Android backup is turned on, your phone's own backup to your Google account may include a copy.
