By futigo, from Google Play“A paper boat, one candle, a drowned village, and something in the water.”
Description by futigo Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
Monsoon Night is a one-thumb horror drift through a flooded Indian village at night. Drag to steer the boat with the current, tap to cup the flame against the rain, and see how far the light can go.
THE FLOOD
The boat is a real floating thing. It rides the swell, carves round the bends, rocks in the wake of what drifts past, and fills with rain. Waves break over its rim. Bump a wall and water slops in. Fill it and it sinks.
THE FLAME
The candle is the only warm light in the dark, and it shows only as far as it burns. Rain hits it, the wind leans it, and a hard knock can blow it out. Shield it in a downpour. Strike a match when it dies, if you have one left. And watch the wax: one candle only lasts so long.
WHAT LIVES IN THE WATER
Something has been in the flood since the night it came. Pale fingers rise round the boat. Shake free of the drowned hands before they pull your light under. Play with headphones: you will hear them before you see them.
NINE DROWNED PLACES
The drowned street with its cemetery and sunken market, the paddy flats, the banyan canal, the drowned railway line, the highway, the temple town with its gopuram and bathing ghat, the burning ghat, the fishing harbour and the mangrove creek. After the street, they come in a different order every run.
ONE NIGHT AT A TIME
Drizzle builds to steady rain, heavy rain, then a storm with lightning that shows you everything at once. Then the dead hour, when the rain stops and the water goes still and quiet. Then dawn, and the next night, harder.
SHELTER AND CHARMS
Slip under a tin roof, a bridge or a pillared mandapam to let the hull drain. Pick up matches, candle stubs, camphor that burns white-hot, holy ash that burns the next hand away, tulsi that dries the paper, a temple bell that quiets the water, and a banana leaf that keeps the rain out.
FAST CURRENTS AND CLOSE CALLS
Ride the fast currents to carry the candle further, slip past danger by a hair for a combo, and collect embers on the water.
THREE WAYS TO PLAY
Endless is the full night. Calm keeps the mood without the jump scares. Nightmare brings more of them, and the flame is fragile.
FAIR WITH ADS
There are no ads while you play. A banner sits on the title and the result card. After your first few runs, a short ad may appear between runs now and then. Two reward ads are always your choice: one more match when the candle goes out, or double the embers from a run.
MONSOON NIGHT PRO
One payment, no subscription. Pro takes away the banner and the ads between runs for good. Nothing in Pro makes the game easier.
