I had a breakdown and when the RAC man came along, he was so clever he found the problem, the garage I wanted him to take my car was almost closing time. The RAC man rang the garage and the garage gave permission to the RAC man to leave a safe place key safe and instructions and my car was safe...... the next day the garage rang to say car was safe and getting on with ordering parts with my permission. HOW GOOD WAS THAT!!!

Worst ever breakdown company ever avoid avoid avoid 18 hours of waiting, diagnosed wrongly left me in hard shoulder, no lights with my daughter who needed her medication last resort phoned police and highway men, 58 calls to rac in one day / 17 the next day im taking this further j could write a book about how the RAC left us horrendous communications I ended up using an independent removals' company best part of £800 and purchased a battery I didn't need £300+ honestly AVOID

One of the worst recovery times I have experienced. My wife broke down on her own in a city early morning on her way to work. 7.30 am. I had to got from my work to swop over and let her go home in my car as she had been sat there for 5 hours with no toilet or food. So I swapped with her, I sat in the car for a further 5 hours when a non RAC recovery truck turned up and picked up the car delivered it to my house. By the time I got into my house it took RAC 11 hours.which was 7 miles away.

Can't see a way of sending significant updates when reassurance from RAC has been misplaced. Just sit and wait for a call I guess.
