The best working MythTV frontend for Android This is the only one of the three MythTV frontends for Android (including the official one) that actually works reasonably well. Or for me works at all. The other ones hang or time out loading very large recordings databases (say over 2000 recordings). This mythtv frontend has no trouble with such things and I find it can play just about any recording from my mythbackend without skipping (even recordings originally in HD) when the app is paired with the right player like the MX player. The only problem this frontend has with MythTV 0.25.3 is that it can't jump forward or backward in a recording. Attempting to do so lands you back at the start of the recording. I wish the author would correct this little defect, and I especially wish he would keep up the developmental work on this app, since it is the only frontend for Android that I find usable in my particular installation.

Excellent! Connecting to the current Mythbuntu LTS release (10.04) which is running mythtv 0-23-fixes. It didn't work with the video player I had installed - Mobo, but I tried the recommended BS Player which works great. It does force close more than I'd like, but it is working. I'm watching live tv, tv recordings and videos in xvid format. Excellent work - please keep improving it! I'd love to see some better browsing of recording/videos. I'd love to see it working with myth video's parental levels so I'd feel happier putting it on my kids android devices.

Awesome I can play HD content from my backend server using BS player, totally awesome! Oddly, LiveTV says "no channels", and I can't figure out how to seek during playback, maybe you can't. Still, an awesome capability to watch MythTV on all my devices.

Does not work with Ubuntu 14.04 Mythtv protocol 77 is not supported. Dev has been informed.

Unusable My myth server has the content in mpeg rather than the myth default. I can't play shows. Specifically, I get the "choose an action" dialog with "no apps can perform this action." The app's internal feedback button is also broken. I get "connection timed out." The recorded show list is a one level flat list. I have thousands of recordings. It would be nice to have two levels (show names, episode.) That said, it's a nice start. Looking forward to upgrades! Android 4.1, myth 0.23.
★★☆☆☆
Doesn't work with 0.26 It says in the update info that it now works with protocol versions 56-75, but my backend log says that it's using protocol 56 when trying to connect to my 0.26 server which uses protocol version 75. It would've been nice to be able to play live tv. I've been in touch with the developer who was surprised that it doesn't work, but it seems that he won't fix it.
