How it works
• You and your partner each swipe through baby names on your own phone: like it, love it or pass.
• Link your phones with a six-letter code. Only the names you both like show up as matches. The ones you pass stay private.
• When you both like a name, it's a match. Can't decide between your matches? Pit them against each other, two at a time, until one name wins.
Real names, real data
Every name in Namesake was given to real babies and comes from official birth records: the US Social Security Administration, the Office for National Statistics (England and Wales), National Records of Scotland, Ireland's Central Statistics Office, Statistics Canada and the NSW Registry (Australia). No made-up names and no random words.
For each name you can see:
• its meaning and origin, from Wikipedia
• how popular it is right now where you live, and whether it is rising
• its popularity over the last 120 years
• how it sounds with your last name, and similar names you might like
Decks for every taste
Girl names, boy names or both. Popular now, rising fast, timeless classics, modern names, short and sweet, unisex names, plus hidden gems, vintage revivals, nature names, myths and legends, literary and royal names. The more you swipe, the better the next names fit your taste, and names your partner liked come up sooner.
Made for two
• No account, no email, no password
• Your swipes stay on your phone; only the names you like are shared with your partner
• A gentle daily reminder, if you want one
• Share your shortlist as a card with family and friends
Namesake is supported by ads. Every feature is open to everyone, and nothing sits behind a paywall.
