Noiseblinders

Your phone wasn't built for your brain. Every notification, every red badge, every infinite scroll: they're all fighting for the attention you're trying to protect.

Noiseblinders is the focus app built for the way ADHD actually works. No lectures, no guilt trips, no "just put your phone down." One tap starts a Ritual that blocks your distracting apps and plays a focus soundtrack, so your environment does the work, not your willpower.

HOW IT WORKS

Create a Ritual in seconds:
▸ Pick the apps that pull you in (social media, games, news: you know the ones)
▸ Choose a focus soundscape
▸ Set a timer and a difficulty level
▸ Tap once to start

When your Ritual is running, blocked apps are replaced by a warm shield screen: not an error, not a lecture, just a gentle "not right now." Meanwhile, your focus soundtrack plays in the background, giving your brain something to land on.

HOW NOISEBLINDERS BLOCKS APPS (ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE)

To show the shield the instant you open an app you chose to block, Noiseblinders uses Android's AccessibilityService API. You are asked for this permission in plain language before anything is enabled, and the app explains why at the moment it asks.

Exactly what the service does:
▸ It tells Noiseblinders only which app just came to the foreground, nothing more
▸ It does NOT read screen content, the text you type, passwords, or anything you do inside any app
▸ It does NOT record, collect, transmit, sell or store this information. The check happens on your device and nothing leaves it
▸ It is used for one purpose only: noticing that a blocked app opened during a Ritual you started yourself, so the shield can be shown

Why this API: it is the only way Android reports a foreground app change in real time. We tried the narrower UsageStatsManager API first, but it only reports usage in delayed batches, which is far too slow to put a shield up before you're already scrolling.

You grant this permission yourself, and you can withdraw it at any time in Android Settings → Accessibility → Installed apps (or Downloaded apps) → Noiseblinders. Blocking simply stops working; nothing else in the app is affected.

THREE DIFFICULTY MODES

Normal: end your session whenever you want. No pressure.
Timeout: want to quit early? You'll wait a few seconds first. Just enough friction to let the impulse pass.
Deep Shield (Pro): the session runs until the timer ends. For the days when you need the guardrails all the way up.

YOUR STATS, YOUR WAY

▸ Focus minutes and session count
▸ Streaks that restart without guilt ("Streaks restart. That's how they work.")
▸ Weekly focus report card you can share as an image
▸ Gems you earn for milestones and referring friends

BUILT FOR ADHD, NOT AGAINST YOU

We will never shame you for bypassing a block. We will never tell you your brain is broken. We will never pretend we can rewire your dopamine. We're a tool, a really good one, and you're the one doing the work.

Privacy-first: we never see which apps you block. No ads, no data selling, no tracking.

Fixes a bug on some Xiaomi phones where pressing the volume button could dismiss the blocking screen. Your blocked apps now stay quiet until your Ritual ends.
