Great app for writing when traveling. Quite nice with a stylus - I use it with a Samsung Galaxy Note tablet. You need to "teach" it you're writing. Can be clumsy at first, but it gets better soon. I really like the feature to export to XML format. Allows me to import scores to Sibelius. And the native sound samples are pretty decent. The free version also has Photos core, so you can convert existing sheet music to XML. Doesn't always resolve it, but I find no score photo conversion I have tried ever does. All in all, a wonderful tool for composing multi-instrumental parts on the go if you're used to writing on stave paper. I love that I can write anywhere (even when not connected to Wi-Fi, unlike Note flight which is Web based). I used to scribble in notebooks. No longer!

Best music app notation, BUT I wish it could import images. PhotoS core is pretty nifty, but I'd have an easier time fixing a photo of a score to import it than multiple tries with PhotoS core. Still, very useful for me to hear how the music is meant to sound and correct errors in my playing.

Sorry, but it never works. It never recognizes my handwriting. I've had this app for many years now and it never lears my writing. It was expensive and it doesn't work. Sorry... It would have been a great tool for my work as a session drummer. Now I have to use paper and pen...

Don't waste your money! I have been desperate for an app that I could use on the go and then download into finale once I was back home. I took my chances with this one....... I've been trying for a week to get this app to recognize my notes. NO such luck. After two days I ordered the stylus they recommended (another $20+ spent) I anxiously waited two days for amazon to deliver, hoping the new stylus would be the magical solution. The app still doesn't recognize even a simple quarter note. I erased the learning and tried to have it re-learn my notes......it actually is worse now than when I started. I've been at it long enough! I no longer have the option of a refund, so I'm out $60 and could do much better with a pencil and some manuscript paper. ALSO......the photo feature is more money. I thought it was included and was one reason I bought the app to begin with. You are wasting you money with this app. (A lot of money) FYI - I was attempting to use this on a samsung tablet (large 10" screen) and bought the Adonis jot stylus.

Better to buy a Moleskin ruled for music manuscript.... My comments were deleted, but I will state that after using the app for hours daily after nearly a month, I feel that I am serving the app instead of the app serving me. In the time it takes me to write fifty measures in a Moleskin, I can scarcely write five measures. This app has potential, but if you can hear what you're writing, then Notate Me feels like fumbling for change in the dark at a toll booth. The one good thing is the clean copy one can produce, but it's still more time-consuming than vellum. BTW, if you want an app that can simultaneously handle different time signatures, you'll still need a laptop or PC, or paper. Is Notate Me worth the price? If you don't have deadlines, and you need to aurally hear every phrase, then, if it were $37 cheaper, yes; but, if you through-compose or you need something deft and flexible enough to accommodate complex ideas, then Notate Me is a handicap at best. (Sorry guys, truth is truth. Keep pluggin' away! )
