Description by Perlicom Systems(from Google Play)
PerliShade is a blue light filter and screen dimmer: it lays a warm, gentle layer over your screen so reading late at night stops feeling like staring into a torch. Set the warmth, drop the brightness below what your phone's own slider allows, and let it come on by itself at sunset.
The filter runs on the device and works with no network at all. Sign in with your Google account to start.
THE BLUE LIGHT FILTER - Colour temperature from 6500 K (neutral) all the way down to 1000 K (candlelight) - A strength dial, so warm does not have to mean orange - Extra dim: a screen dimmer that goes below your phone's own minimum brightness, for a dark room - Red night-vision and sepia washes for when you want something other than warmth
PRESETS - Reading (4600 K), Evening (3400 K), Night (2700 K and a little dim), Candle (1900 K), Red alert and Sepia — one tap each - Save the look you have settled on as your own named preset (Pro)
NIGHT LIGHT ON A SCHEDULE - Sunset to sunrise, worked out from a city you pick — no location permission, no network lookup - Or your own hours, including ones that run past midnight - Fades in and out over twenty minutes, so you never catch it changing - Or leave it fully manual, or always on
ALWAYS ONE TAP FROM OFF - A quick-settings tile in the pull-down shade - An ongoing notification with Turn off and preset buttons - The tint keeps going when you swipe PerliShade out of recents, and comes back after a reboot, because a filter that quietly stops is worse than no filter at all
EYE CARE BREAK REMINDERS (Pro) - The 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds - Snooze it, keep it inside your working hours, and it stays quiet while you are watching something full screen
FREE AND PRO PerliShade is a free blue light filter. The free app keeps the built-in presets, the warmth and dim sliders, the sunset-to-sunrise schedule, one schedule of your own and the quick toggle. A small banner advert sits at the bottom of each main screen, in its own strip under the content — never over the filter, and never on a break reminder. PerliShade Pro is a one-off purchase, not a subscription. It adds presets you create and save, the 20-20-20 break reminders, and it removes the adverts.
WHY IT ASKS FOR "DISPLAY OVER OTHER APPS" That permission is the whole app. The tint is a coloured layer drawn above whatever you are using. It cannot see, read, touch or intercept anything underneath it — it only paints. PerliShade also runs a foreground service while the filter is on, which is what keeps the tint alive when you leave the app, and shows the notification you can turn it off from.
PRIVACY Your presets and schedule are kept on the device, and can follow your account to your other devices, end-to-end encrypted with a master password only you know. PerliShade has no idea what is on your screen — it paints over it and never reads it. Adverts come from Google AdMob, and in the EU and UK you are asked for consent before personalised adverts are shown. Optional usage counts are off by default.
There is a Linux desktop version too, with a tray icon, per-display control and the same presets.
