Description
PhonoPaper is a camera app for playing pictures with encoded sound (PhonoPaper-codes). With this app, you can also create your own codes: 10 seconds of sound can be recorded from a microphone and converted into an image.
[ Key features ] * PhonoPaper does not require access to the network for decoding; * PhonoPaper code is analogue, so it is not so sensitive to different types of the image distortion (bad camera, dark picture, wrinkled paper, etc.); at least you will hear the "silhouette" of the original sound; * code can be played in real-time with hand-controlled speed and direction; * code can be drawn by hand to get some unusual sounds.
[ Examples of usage ] * voice messages (or pieces of music) on t-shirts, billboards, posters, postcards, goods; * audio labels for phonorecords; * audio examples in books; * secret messages; * art-experiments.
[ How to use ] Launch the app, point the camera at the code (tap on the screen to focus if necessary) and smoothly scan the picture from left to right. The code should be parallel to the frame - try to keep the camera level. The black code markers (top and bottom) should fall entirely into the frame. If the application recognizes code markers, you will hear a sound. If you are unable to play the code smoothly, press the record button on the right side of the screen, this will enable automatic scanning.
Default PhonoPaper code length is 10 seconds. But if the code was generated in Virtual ANS app, its length can be much longer - in this case, the playback speed can be changed manually.

Loved this app, but does not seem to work on Google Pixel 6. Otherwise, this is one of the coolest things ever. Draw patterns and reap the rewards of interesting sounds.

This app is good to turn audio to picture and vice versa, saw it once on YouTube. But when I tried to 'take photo' and turn into audio (free play), it does work when save as picture, but doesn't work when saving as audio. The app said it's saved but when I see in directory where I saved, there's no such file I saved before. May I can get support for this, Thank you.

Would be awesome to have an option to decode an imported image. Would be also awesome to add a distortion seed, so that and only be able to decode if you have the correct code. U know, like radio transmission, carrier wave + signal + distortion? You likely know way more about it than I do. Man, mad regards. The stuff you do, is the stuff I've bern thinking about for years. Not just this app, but color-sound experiments. Bought almost all of it. Awesome. Respect. And hello from UA.

Ok so I'm giving this 2 star because of it can get better not because it's bad:1st if we could import sound into app it would be better cause now we have to play the sound and have the app listen to it. 2nd if we could also import image it would be good too. I have a Samsung Galaxy A6, so you could say my phone camera isn't that bad but every time I scan an image that I made with this app it ignores some part of it. Cause when I save it, it doesn't have some parts compared to main one.

It is impossible to listen the reordered result on the go. Useless app with no support.
