Play Dead is the official Grateful Dead streaming app, offering unprecedented hi-res access to the Grateful Dead Vault of live recordings.
For the first time, the band’s live legacy is brought together in a single official streaming service, with newly transferred and mastered recordings from the original sources.
Previously unreleased shows - called Dead Drops - will be available every Tuesday, augmenting the catalog of official live Grateful Dead releases, many of which have never been available on any streaming service.

Skeptical Audiophile perspective: I have been a regular archive streamer for years and augment with a hq Tidal/Soyuz subscription. I was skeptical I would find this app useful, but I was wrong. The remasters are fantastic and there's plenty of variety in eras I might not have fully explored, with more shows added weekly. Most importantly, the Estates of our boys are getting a much greater $ cut from this than from other subscription streaming platforms. Easily worth the $10 a month!

This is a dream come true. The Dead sure have a way of collecting a hundred dollar bills off of us Every Year, but I ain't complainin'! I'm privileged for the privilege. This has everything put out on CD (Dave's Picks included!) plus certain shows throughout the years, with two more from the vault added every Tuesday! I never rate apps but after 10 minutes with this I felt I had to. 10 bucks a month, undo for the year. It's why we work.

This app should be free. The grateful dead believed their recordings should be shared and free for everyone. Charging for their live music goes against what they believed in.

I would gladly pay the monthly payment for this Play Dead app as I already subscribe to Nugs, but for some reason Wide Vine has been implemented on all the Dead music. You go out create an awesome HiRez app and then implement Wide Vine DRM, so you can not play the HiRez app on HiRez music players. I'm not really sure how that makes sense. No other HiRez music apps use this DRM, not sure why Play Dead decided to.
