Description
The QuakeAlert app will alert you that an earthquake has occurred and will send a push alert to your mobile device. This alert includes information about the expected shaking intensity at your location and the time until the expected shaking, along with a message instructing you to drop, cover, and hold on.
Warning times can range from 10 to 60+ seconds depending on the location, depth, and magnitude of the earthquake’s epicenter.
The QuakeAlert app uses data provided by the USGS and ShakeAlert. This App is an official pilot created in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey and should be considered a “beta” product with no implied guarantees.

The Shake Alert system this app uses is now active in OR as well as CA, and will be active in WA later this year. Location use is limited only to when the app is open, but I assume it only needs to be active to update your position and will otherwise use the last known position for alert notification. It would be nice to see some confirmation of that.

Lifesaver. People please be patient. This app is in Beta so I am sure problems will be ironed out. For me, it works great, and customer service responded within minutes. Where do you find that? Just a quake 3.5 in Yorba Linda few miles away no warning ..........

It alerted me right away when the earthquake happens. I didn't think anything of the noise while I was in the restroom just sounded like someone hit the wall. Then this app started making a siren sound alert. Thank you developers!

Got notification before I felt the quake!! I was sitting here Friday night. Got a pop-up on my phone and then all of a sudden I felt shaking. Not enough time to do much, but very cool!!

I don't get why this app is putting my location as Pasadena. I am not in Pasadena, I am not even in LA, but over 36 miles from LA. So I won't get any alerts if any quakes hit my area, so what is the use in having this? Hope this gets fixed soon.

I have had 2 earthquakes that were 3.5 in the last 48 hours but no notification. I have my notification set for 3.0 or higher and both this earthquake were 8 miles away from me. I have no notification since July 2020. Which is crazy since I live in California. I like the ideal it if works.
