I grew up with the original RBI on NES, and when I heard it was coming back several years ago, I was pretty excited. Then, the reviews started rolling in, and I never bothered trying it. I made a mistake. There's no perfection here; I'll be the first to admit that. That said, this game is pure fun. I want to play a season with my beloved Cubs, and was stunned to discover just how up-to-date the rosters were. Deadline deals that brought over Quintana, Avila, and Wilson were already there mere days afterwards. RBI was a loved game back in the day, but had its fair share of flaws. My biggest issue with this iteration really is in some control schemes that are necessary in streamlining the interface. Baserunning can be an absolute nightmare. The "swipe your thumb from base to base," can outright suck when you NEED to use it. (For instance, runner on second, ball hit to OF that you need to see played to determine whether to head home and if batter can stretch to a double... On many occasions, (MOST) a clearly drawn line from 3B to Home will result in the batter, running to 2B, turning around and heading back to 1B, while the potential run just stands at 3B. Of course, atop the run standing at 3B, the ball has made its way back to the IF, and the hitter, who should have been safe at 2B, is now thrown out at 1B). Baserunners make the occasional gaffe, and defense is mostly solid, despite complaints. But, here's the thing... As long as you play solid, the occasional gaffe by players not in your direct control, almost inevitably go YOUR way at a near 2:1 margin. I'm halfway through my first season, and while I've occasionally felt "cheated" in the way I've given up a run, I've never felt cheated in losing a game. I've seen complaints about it not working on Galaxy s8 or 8+, I installed this approximately 2 weeks after buying my s8+ and have had zero issues with playing. It does take a bit to boot up, and it can be a bit demanding on the battery, but I thoroughly enjoy playing a 3 game series with my favorite team with up to date rosters, and easy to learn controls when I find a little downtime on my hands. Especially when it comes to pitchers, take the time to read their player cards to learn their strengths and weaknesses. A professional review recently bemoaned that he could not find rhyme or reason as to being consistent with his rotation. Ridiculous.

The game is terrible. Balls roll right passed outfielders, as you frantically tap the screen to throw the ball, your player just stands there. You'll actually hit the ball once in a while but it's never further than the infield unless it's a pop-up. The CPU will get several in-the-park HRs per game. I'm playing on a brand new Galaxy S8. It does take a little while to load but it's not that bad.
