Description

r53obd is a diagnostics and logging app built specifically for the first-generation MINI Cooper — R50, R52, and R53. These cars are too old for most modern diagnostic and coding apps, which start at the newer CAN-bus models. r53obd speaks their language.

Connect an OBDLink MX+ or compatible USB Cable and get:

FREE
• Live engine data — RPM, boost/MAP, coolant & intake temps, throttle, fuel trims, lambda, timing, knock, and more
• Read & clear fault codes — in plain English, with MINI-specific detail generic scanners miss
• Emissions readiness monitors and VIN
• CSV data logging — capture a drive or a full-throttle pull and export it
• Guided cooling-fan test — pinpoint the classic first-gen fan/relay failure
• Coding preview — scan your body modules and read their option coding (read-only) (OBD breakout or bridge required to reach all modules)
• Demo mode — explore the whole app with sample data, no adapter required

• Module coding — plain-English toggles for comfort & convenience options (lighting, locking, chimes, displays), with an automatic backup before every change (OBD breakout or bridge required to reach all modules)

Built for the enthusiasts and DIYers who want real numbers from the supercharged Cooper S and honest diagnostics across the whole first-gen range.

REQUIRES the OBDLink CX or OBDLink MX+ adapter (sold separately) and OBD breakout or bridge (also sold separately) or ISTA Compatible K/DCAN USB cable for live vehicle data. Inexpensive generic ELM327 clones are not supported for the MINI-specific data and cannot be utilized for vehicle coding. For lawful diagnostics and maintenance on a vehicle you own.
