Description
The first raptor identification app designed for mobile devices, "HawkWatch International's Identification Guide to Raptors" puts expert hawk identification content in the palm of your hand. In this guide to North America's 34 species of diurnal raptors, you'll find nearly 1000 annotated photos, and cutting edge identification video for each species, geared toward helping you identify raptors in flight. If you're just getting started with birding, this app covers the basics; if you're already an expert hawk watcher, this app covers all the variation that can lead to identification confusion, even among the most seasoned birders.
• Developed by HawkWatch International in partnership with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology • Comprehensive identification content created by Jerry Liguori and Brian Sullivan • ~1000 annotated photos covering plumage, age/sex, and geographic variation • Cutting edge ID-focused video showing each species in flight, from multiple angles, and behaviors, including voice-over ID tips from Jerry Liguori • Range maps with links to interactive seasonal eBird maps • Vocalizations for each species • 'Ask the authors' raptor ID question forum

If you're looking at raptors, get it! If you are a raptor enthusiast or just looking to increase your knowledge on these families, this is the way to go. Get the books, for sure, and then get this app! The flight videos alone have already helped me a LOT. Fantastic work, Brian and Jerry!!

The most helpful guide I own This is just what I needed. Sure, it's full of photos, comparisons, descriptions, range maps, etc., but it also has narrated video for each species. These videos show the raptors in flight, somewhat from a distance, with narration that brings to life the telltale field marks and flight styles! This is incredibly useful for field ID, moreso than any book I already owned.

Probably a good app, but, 1) video doesn't work with Android 8.1, and 2)
developers won't respond to help requests. Save your money...

This is a fine app EXCEPT that it appears to have a serious bug on my Nexus 6P with Android operating system 7.1.1 (Nougat) The app fills the entire screen from edge to edge and there are no controls for going back, going to the phone's home screen, minimizing the app or closing the app. So, once I open the app, the only way I'm able to escape it is to reboot the phone. Obviously, not acceptable! I have tried all kinds of touching, swiping, prodding and poking, and I get no controls, no way to exit the app. I can get to various app pages, such as Home, Introduction, Browse Species, and About Us but cannot escape the app. Please fix ASAP. I have free apps that work without a hitch. This one I paid $9.99 for, and I expect better!
