Description
The RCSB Protein Data Bank (PDB) mobile app is the official mobile app of the RCSB PDB. It provides fast, on-the-go access to the RCSB PDB resources. The app enables the general public, researchers and scholars to search the Protein Data Bank and visualize protein structures using either a WiFi or cellular data connection. Search the entire PDB database, view the latest protein structure entries to be released, access your MyPDB account, view the entire catalog of Molecule of the Month and more. This work has been funded by National Science Foundation grant DBI 0829586
Please note that the app requires at least 50 MB of space for basic app installation plus a further 50 MB of storage for index files. The app will not install or function properly unless there is sufficient space for installation. Older devices running android versions below 4.0 may not have sufficient hardware resources to run the app efficiently.

Great molecule viewer This app is fantastic for searching specific molecules on the whim. You can view them in the molecule viewer as well which works seamlessly. My only complaint is that the app currently cannot be moved to the SD card - this should be addressed in an update as it is quite a big app. I'm looking forward to any updates!

Not working since lollypop upgrade Since upgrading to lollypop, the app will no longer display molecules in 3D, just a black screen.

Not quite versatile. There should be some way around to see the 1° sequence and show the structures of only those parts. Clipping only the required parts in the 3D structure (otherwise it becomes messy to look), a way around to calculate distance between residues, translational possibility apart from just rotating are some basic things required for apart from just showing the structure. Nice job guys apart from these!
