Comments on Readest: EPUB & PDF Reader for Android

★★★★★ Jacqueline Rosario · Oct 2, 2026

I love this app so much. I read all my books on it without it taking up my space like other apps do. This is the best book app on the play store. One thing I would suggest is they fix the TTS reading because it talks too fast and sometimes skips whole paragraphs.

★★★★★ Arafat Rahman (Ara) · Jul 22, 2026

Reading ebooks on phone for years. I found that readest is the best reader ever. My only concern is about its electron app, and it may lag badly (like notion).

★★★★★ Winsner Yeun Jao · Sep 14, 2026

Definitely the best ebook reader on Android for me—and I’ve tried a lot. What you get in the free version already beats most paid alternatives. The TTS (text-to-speech) function is unbeatable for a free app, delivering audio quality that rivals, or even matches, paid AI neural voices. Highly recommended!

★☆☆☆☆ Jordan Smith · Jul 19, 2026

Iast update means I can't even open app still waiting for new update. It's a good app, but I can't use it, and it's getting a bit annoying that any time I want to read I have to use my PC, specifically for books I don't have a physical copy of.

★☆☆☆☆ YiYin Gu · Jul 12, 2026

Terrible transparency regarding recent policy changes. In the latest update, WebDAV and Google Drive sync were suddenly paywalled—even for self-hosted users where the dev incurs zero server costs. It’s fine to monetize, but be honest about it. Don't pretend features are free when they aren't; even 4 days after gating these features, the official documentation still falsely claims WebDAV is free.

★★☆☆☆ Rizeeen · Sep 5, 2026

Please fix the zoom in/zoom out it feels very stiff, try to imitate like Eboox for example

★☆☆☆☆ Diego FC · Aug 29, 2026

KOreader Sync is broken, which makes this app useless. The issue seems to be that it cannot sync based on filename due to files being imported, despite the fact that I clearly indicated it to use the files in their original location. So I guess I'll have to use KOreader instead.

★★☆☆☆ Sijibomi Olusunmbola · Aug 21, 2026

App constantly freezes after performing simple actions like changing theme/brightness, or opening a book. Player behavior can be finicky as it does not start reading from the current focus as one would expect. I often find myself fighting the controls, since attempts to trigger controls appearance often triggers scrolling at the same time. A simplified setting that progressively discloses and disambiguates what reader vs global app controls would be beneficial. Thank you
