RealTime AI Cam

RealTime AI Cam tells you what your camera is pointed at, out loud, and every part of it runs on your phone. No account, no ads, nothing to buy. It works in airplane mode, on a subway, or in another country with no data, and nothing the camera sees ever leaves the device.

WHAT IT DOES
• Names what is in front of you, 601 everyday object types
• What's this? describes the whole scene in a sentence and reads it to you
• Hold to ask a question about what it sees, and it answers first: yes, no, or the number
• Reads printed text out loud, and says numbers and dates the way a person would
• Help Me Aim: say what you are looking for, a face, a page, a label, and it talks you into the shot, then takes the picture itself once you are lined up
• One tap flashlight for dark rooms
• Spanish to English on printed text, with a 268,000 entry on-device dictionary
• Adjustable confidence, zoom, and tracked boxes if you are using it by sight

LANGUAGES
Built for English speakers. It reads English, and translates printed Spanish into English with no internet at all. Other languages download once from Google, then work offline too.

WORKS WITH TALKBACK
Every button is labeled, so you can run the whole app without seeing the screen. Nothing is buried behind a gesture you have to discover, and the app tells you what it is doing while it works.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
The models are small enough to live on your phone, which is exactly why it works with no signal, and it does get things wrong sometimes. It tells you when it is unsure instead of guessing confidently at you.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Everything runs on your phone. The only time the app goes online is to download a language pack, once, and only if you want to translate something besides English or Spanish. English and Spanish never touch the internet.
• No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, free forever
• No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no analytics
• Camera frames are processed on your phone and never leave it

GOOD FOR
• Blind and low vision users who want a camera that talks
• Reading a label, a sign, a menu, or a piece of mail out loud
• Travelers and language learners reading Spanish offline
• Anyone who wants to know what they are looking at without giving up privacy

Built by one person at Nice Dreamz in Northern California, and the same app is on iPhone. Most of what is in here came from blind and low vision users emailing me and me building it that night. If something does not work with TalkBack, or you want it to do something it does not do yet, email matt@ineedhemp.com.

Recent changes:
The photo countdown now says all three numbers, three, two, one. What's this? now works the moment the screen opens, instead of ignoring taps while it gets ready.
