Description
Hey you! PLAYER 1, ask yourself:
🎮 Got a retro game collection spread across multiple systems? 📱 Using emulators to play your ROM backups on Android? 🖼️ Wish you had one app to organize everything with custom artwork, box art, and screenshots?
Then GET READY, PLAYER 1... for RESET Collection!
RESET Collection is a sleek, customizable frontend for your retro game ROMs. Automatically fetch art, screenshots, and game info from online databases, then curate your collection your way. All in one beautiful UI!
In order to do this, you will be guided through an easy step-by-step process to select a directory that holds your ROM files (such as .iso, .gbc, .zip files) so that the app can automatically read data information from the ROM files in order to retrieve meta data and images to build your collection of games! Please allow RESET Collection file access permissions in order to be able to read and manage your ROM files!
If you already have videos and box art, screenshot, and logo images of your games that you downloaded using your PC and retro gaming video and image downloading software (such as Skraper), then you can move those media files located in the folders with your ROMs anywhere on your device's storage. You can then set your saved media as box art and backdrops for each of your games and systems by selecting "Set artwork/video snap for all games" from the system menu of any of your collections!
Now you can sit back, relax, and scroll through your awesome collection of retro games. When you're ready to play a game, SELECT it to launch it with your favorite emulator installed on your device!
Don't know what game to play? Let RESET handle it for you with the PLAY RANDOM GAME option! You can even filter the random games by system, date, genre, and title keyword!
If you choose an emulator that isn't installed on your device, RESET Collection will take you to the Play Store page of that app. NOTE: Some apps may no longer exist on the Play Store, but will remain supported in RESET Collection for those that still user those emulators on their devices.
IMPORTANT NOTES AND TIPS FROM THE DEVELOPER:
* The game screenshots displayed in this Play Store listing are not from games intended for play with the displayed system. They're shown for promotional purposes only, as they are games with art images that are free to use.
* For best results when downloading game data and artwork from the online database, please make sure your game file names match the original game name. As a good rule, match the game name to its name on popular online video game databases and wikis.
* My goal is to keep the UI and user experience as streamlined and simple as possible, and in this pursuit I might be missing some features that you really want. As I hear from the community on these desired features, I'll make sure to add them in future RESET Collection updates.
* I'm trying my best to have all of the included emulator options tested and working perfectly! I appreciate all suggestions on missing emulators, and I thank you for your patience as I add supported emulators, as well as fixing any emulators that may not be launching perfectly.
* Supports touch screen and gamepad navigation! But some things to consider: # To bring up the game/system menu: - For touch, long press the system or game box art - For gamepad, hold down the action button # To scroll the game description: - For touch, swipe up and down - For gamepad, use the shoulder buttons (L and R)
* Please send an email or join the RESET Collection Discord to give feedback, request a new feature, or get some help with your RESET Collection! Email and Discord link can be found by visiting the RESET Collection website.

Great frontend. Unfortunately it's android 11 that lets it down. Tip for installing it on an android 11 device is to create 2 console folders for each console. Put your console specific ROMs in one folder then put that single folder into the other folder and direct the selection to that folder. For some reason android 11 can not handle multiple folders in a directory when installing from an external source

Hey! I'm liking this a lot for what I need, and would love to make this my standard emulator front end. It's very effective and I love the box-art. Two things I need: A PC-98 frontend and a bit clearer instructions on what choosing to download all those images does. Part of this is totally my fault, but I can't figure out how to turn off downloading everything.

Love organizing my games and getting such a pretty showcase! Works with all my Emulators!

Great little frontend from a one-man shop. Dev is friendly chao and has presence on Discord and Reddit. App has brought a new lease of life to my Android TV. But alas, curse you NVidia and Android 12 with the scoped storage and possibly ruining the experience for many. Reset works excellently with RetroArch (get the 64 bit from their site). I wish there was a more active community around sharing theming assets. Easy theming and browsing will bring this app to a next level.
★★☆☆☆Steven Payne· Mar 26, 2024
Works ok but not very configurable. If you like the theme your good to go, but there is no real theming. I don't want half my screen showing a picture of the console with enough space left for a single line of roms. Looks nice for the first couple of runs but after that I'm only interested in the roms. Nintendo Switch is also not supported.
★★☆☆☆Josh Devenere· Dec 24, 2024
Want to love it, but it's a mixed bag. The UI is spotless and intuitive. It's fun to navigate and the built-in scraping tools are robust. Unfortunately, it fails at really basic front-end things (like launching games). If you're using RetroArch for most of your systems, it works fine. If you're using standalone emulators, you're going to run into problems. As of right now, it doesn't work with MD.emu, Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro, and it has problems launching Wii games with the Dolphin emulator.

Not compatible on android tv. everything works until selecting folder and gives error you don't have an app to that. Please fix

Doesn't support external shares like SMB which is a basic feature of every other front-end.
