La Torre si erge a circa 1000 metri di altezza distaccandosi nettamente dal paesaggio montuoso e collinare che la circonda connotando l'orizzonte di un'area vastissima della Basilicata centrale, è un sito di straordinaria rilevanza poiché consente di tracciare un percorso storico di lunga durata che va dalla media Età del Bronzo fino al Basso Medioevo.
