Description
Runner Companion is a clean, ad-free toolkit for runners of every level — route planning, training plans and race-day calculations all in one app.
ROUTE PLANNER Plan routes on an interactive map. Tap to place waypoints and the app snaps your route to real footpaths via OpenRouteService. Drag any waypoint to adjust, or undo and redo freely.
Generate a route automatically: set a start location and target distance (1–42 km), choose loop or point-to-point, pick Roads or Trails. Tap refresh in the editor to get a different shape with the same settings.
Import routes from GPX files (Garmin, Komoot, Strava and more) or export as GPX. A live panel shows distance, ascent, descent, run time and an elevation chart as you build.
Sort and filter saved routes by name, distance, date, rating or difficulty.
COMMUNITY ROUTES Discover public running routes shared by other runners worldwide.
Search by name, or by location — type a city or area, or tap GPS for routes near you. A radius slider controls the search area. Switch to map view and pan freely: routes load automatically for the visible area.
Filter and sort by distance, rating or difficulty. Tap any result for the full analysis — elevation profile, stats and difficulty rating. Save to My Routes, rate from 1–5 stars, and mark as completed after your run.
Share your own routes publicly from the analysis screen. They appear in Explore for every other runner.
TRAINING PLANS Generate a periodised running plan for 5K, 10K, 15K, 10 Mile, Half Marathon or Marathon. Choose Novice, Intermediate or Advanced to scale the training load. Set your training days per week (3–6), long run day and current weekly volume — the app builds a full schedule with base, build, peak and taper phases. Step-back recovery weeks are included every four weeks. The pre-race week always ends with a rest day, a shakeout run and race day. Saved plans are stable: reopen later and see the same schedule.
PACE & SPEED Convert between pace (min/km or min/mile) and speed (km/h or mph). Useful for comparing workouts logged in different units.
FINISH TIME Work forward from a pace to a finish time, or backwards from a goal time to the pace you need. Covers any distance from a 5K to an ultra.
SPLITS Plan race pacing with even or negative splits. Set the number of segments and, for negative splits, how aggressively your pace builds.
RACE EQUIVALENCE Enter any recent race result and get predicted times across all standard distances using Riegel's formula. Confidence indicators show where predictions are most reliable.
TREADMILL PACE Translate treadmill speed and incline to the equivalent flat-road pace, or find treadmill settings for a target outdoor pace. Uses the Van Hooren (2020) formula.
HEAT & ALTITUDE Get a realistic adjusted pace for hot weather or high altitude. Enter your goal pace and conditions — race by effort, not ego.
EFFORT PACE (RPE) Map any RPE value (1–10) to a concrete pace using your personal easy, tempo and threshold anchors. Or enter a pace to find its effort level.
CALORIES Estimate calories burned from distance, weight and pace, with a per-km or per-mile breakdown for fuelling long runs.
RACE PREDICTOR Mid-race tool: enter distance covered and elapsed time to get your current pace and a projected finish time.
CONVERTER Unit conversions for pace, speed, distance, weight and altitude.
