Description
This application is designed for traffic surveying, accounting for the 12 basic turning movements (more count styles are to come in updates). Why pay $300 for a hardware counting board when you can just do it on your phone? This application replicates these boards and writes excel-friendly .txt files with comma-separated values so they can easily be imported using the comma delimiter. In addition, this app also grants you additional features such as customized interval lengths, change the NESW orientation, erase accidental button presses, share result files over data/wifi, and even automatically crunches some numbers for you such as the peak interval and peak hour factor (PHF). With the RushHour Traffic Counter, you'll have an intuitive and wallet-friendly companion for collecting all your turn count data.
It is recommended that you minimize the number of background apps in use before counting.

Updates From Original Rush Hour Traffic Counter:
-Fixed major bug that caused the app to crash on higher API's. -Fixed minor data entry bugs. -Added 2 extra banks for counting trucks and buses separate from cars. -Added ability to pause counts and alter the timer rate from 0.5x to 20x real life speed, so that the app can be used in sync with sped up/slowed down video recordings of traffic to count more efficiently. -Upgraded layout and design to make it compatible with a wider range of devices.
Recent changes: Corrected major issue with files not saving specifically in Android 10. Take note when updating to Android 10 or 11 as the files must be saved to different locations, and the list will not show files in the older locations (they will still be on your phone):

Matthew, I am a 35 years plus traffic engineers and have done many traffic counts in the field and in the office from videos. I just completed a traffic circulation study with more than 40 intersections that I need to count. I want to tell you that this is the best traffic counting App I have used so far. It’s easy to set up and save data. This means that you can start counting when you get to the counting location without have to spend time to input all kind of location and file data. Saving data is also quick and easy by simply email it to yourself or office and process the data there. I have used other Apps, manual counting boards, and electronic counting boards. I think this is by far the best. I like the pause button. It gives you the opportunity to take break when you are counting from videos. Overall, I really like this App. My only problem, which is minor and not with the App, but is with the cell phone. When counting with the electronic counting boards, with raised buttons, I can keep my eyes focused on the intersection and don’t have to look at the counting board as I can feel the button with my fingers. With the cell phone without raised buttons I had to keep looking at

Thank you so much for this app. I totally love this app. Can count intersection traffic easily, take notes and import in Excel in 3 clicks. Saves a ton of time. God Bless.

The setup of this app is fantastic. However, after conducting a count session NONE of my data was saved. I have an Android (for reference). Once the count session ended, the "List of Counts" was nothing but a blank screen with a scroll function. I was disappointed to say the least. This app COULD have been a saving grace but, unfortunately was not in my case.
