It's missing the options for switching the rear speaker output type/grouping/private and options for location, which is a real bummer, and I hope they fix this. Especially if this is designed to replace what was on SmartThings. Otherwise, it's good, but I don't see the point of separating this from Smart Things. Edit: I actually hope they add a "smart" option/setting for music apps to do the balanced output automatically if it detects you are using Spotify.

I downloaded the app after receiving notification on ST app. I faced some issues & prepared checklist as below. 1. Cant find soundbar in the scan list - It seems necessary to update soundbar (Q990D in my case). - Update soundbar from SmartThings app first > 3 dots > Information > Update now 2. Can't connect to soundbar while adding - I deleted my soundbar's pairing history from my Phone's BT settings - After this I can add well

Not sure what this app is for. Seems like the recent Chromecast updates on Samsung prompted the Sound app to be installed but everything is already available in SmartThings without the Sound app and this app doesn't integrate with SmartThings making it completely unnecessary. As far as using Chromecast stream music on my Samsung devices, sound quality is significantly better if I use standard Bluetooth or tap to play. If this app has a purpose, I have yet to discover it.

Smart Things app can connect to sound bar even when on 5GHz home Wi-Fi while sound bar is connected to 2.4GHz. Samsung app won't let you. Already inconvenient!

The new app sucks. Smart things is seeing the soundbar as online, playing Spotify. Samsung sounds don't see anything. Also reverse q930d firmware to whatever it was 1 month ago. The new firmware is causing sound dropouts every couple of hours.
