Description by Wxbyte LLC(from Google Play)
WARNING: SatSquatch will use large amounts of data, especially when animating loops. WiFi or unlimited data plan is recommended for heavy use.
SatSquatch is a tool designed for weather professionals and enthusiasts looking to display imagery from the GOES weather satellites (GOES-16 & GOES-17) in a user-friendly and responsive interface.
The base version of SatSquatch allows access to all available base satellite layers (full list below) as well as custom derived products such as true color or visible/infrared composite layers. The application also allows users to loop through the last 15 images and toggle overlays for their location, state borders, country borders, major highways, etc.
Upgrade to SatSquatch Pro (4.99/mo) to overlay vital meteorological information such as temperature, dewpoint, or derived quantities such as convective available potential energy (CAPE) from our custom mesoanalysis. Our mesoanalysis updates at a high frequency (every 15 minutes) and at a fine resolution (grid spacing of ~3km).
A free, web-based version of this tool is located at https://satsquatch.com/map/
Available Layers:
--Visible-- - Band 1: Blue Visible - Band 2: Red Visible
--Infrared-- - Band 7: Shortwave Window IR - Band 8: Upper-level Water Vapor IR - Band 9: Mid-level Water Vapor IR - Band 14: Legacy Window IR
--Derived-- - True Color - Snow/Ice RGB - Day Microphysics RGB - Fog Detection - Vis/IR Composite
Available Sectors: - CONUS - Full Disk (Slightly truncated N and S) - Mesoscale1 - Mesoscale2
Recent changes: - Added surface station (METAR) plots to mesoanalysis overlays (NOTE: this layer updates only once per hour and does not animate) - Added basic color customization for METAR plots and borders/roads

★★★★★
Excellent satellite app that I've used for several years for storm chasing, now with much needed METARS obs!
★★★★★
Have noticed fewer and fewer bugs as time goes on, and it's turned into a great app. Looping now more consistent, with all layers available excluding the few times when NOAA has had data feed issues.
★★★★★
The one "gripe" I have is you have to select a product on each start of the program. Otherwise, provides the GOES imagery in a simple way
★★☆☆☆
While the app is good, works, fast and smooth, the optional monthly fee to use 70% of the features is BS. It's bad enough you have to purchase before trying and deciding.... Not worth it considering everything is already taxpayer funded, and the public has access.

Sometimes it works perfectly and is a great app to have. The other times it seems like the satellite data does not update to the latest data and so you are stuck with images that are hours old. (Pixel 2xl, Android Pie)

I like the dark gray and blue state borders look of the map. Overall it seems like a high quality app. However, there are a few issues which leave me disappointed. The app Force closes when switching layers. Loop playback always glitches, missing frames and missing portions of image. Sometimes zooming out helps. Only a small amount of map overlays available unless you want to pay more. I don't feel its worth wait I paid.
