Description by 7afidi(from Google Play)
Screenshot search for everything you saved and cannot find again.
ShotSeek makes the words inside your pictures searchable. Type a word you remember - a name, a code, a price, a street - and it shows you the screenshots, receipts, notes and photos with that word printed in them. All of it happens on your phone.
Find any screenshot by the words inside it
You saved the address. You saved the booking code. You saved the recipe. Now you are scrolling through four thousand pictures looking for it. Screenshot search ends that: type the word, get the picture.
• Find old screenshots from months back, by a word you still remember • Find lost screenshots you know you saved but cannot place • Find codes in screenshots: booking references, coupons, Wi-Fi passwords • Find screenshots by text instead of by the date you happened to save them
Search text in photos, receipts and notes
New in this version: ShotSeek no longer looks at the screenshots folder alone. It reads every picture you give it access to, so photo text search covers the rest of your gallery as well.
• A photo of a receipt, and the shop name printed across it • A label, a package, a menu, a sign, a parking bay number • A page of notes you photographed instead of typing out • Any picture with printed words in it
Read and copy the text in a picture
Open a result and the matching words are highlighted on the image itself. Open the full text in a sheet, copy the part you need, or share the picture from the same screen.
• Matching words highlighted on the photo, and they stay aligned when you zoom • Copy a phone number, a code or an address without retyping it • Share a picture in one tap
Offline, and nothing uploaded
Offline screenshot search is the whole point of this app. Your pictures are read on your phone, by your phone. No account, no sign-up, no server. Nothing leaves the device, so a local image search still works on a plane, on the metro, or with mobile data switched off.
Built for a gallery that got out of hand
• The newest pictures are prepared first, so what you need is ready soonest • Preparation carries on when you leave the app, with a quiet progress notification • Close the app and open it again and it continues where it stopped • Fast image search works while the rest are still being prepared • Tested on a library of 10,000 pictures
Common questions
Does it work without internet? Yes. Text recognition runs on the device, always.
Do I have to wait before I can search? No. You can search text in photos while the rest are still being prepared, and recent pictures are ready first.
Can it find text in screenshots I saved last year? Yes, once they have been prepared, as long as the words are printed and readable.
Can I search my gallery by text when a picture is not in the screenshots folder? Yes. ShotSeek works as a photo text finder across every folder you have given it access to.
Does it upload my pictures? No. Nothing is uploaded, at any point.
What if I only allow some photos? Then the search covers those photos. You can change that choice whenever you like.
What ShotSeek does not do
Saying this plainly will save some of you a download:
• It reads printed words. It does not recognise objects, faces or scenes, so searching for "white car" will not find one • It reads the Latin alphabet. Arabic, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean are not supported yet • It does not scan with the camera, edit pictures, translate, or read text aloud • It has no cloud backup and no sync between devices • It cannot see photos you have not granted access to
Who it is for
People who screenshot things instead of writing them down, and anyone who photographs receipts, tickets, labels, whiteboards and door codes and then has to find them again later.

It's well-designed, but unfortunately it doesn't work. It scans folder, but then you find it can't find any words. It seems to be able to pull out where the screenshot was taken from e.g. if you put reddit it will pull out all reddit screenshots but it can't search for any of the words in those reddit screenshots
