ShadowCam

ShadowCam records video in the background and encrypts it the moment it is captured. There is no preview to give it away, and no plain video file sitting in your storage.

Start a recording from the app or from the home screen widget, lock your phone, and put it away. The camera keeps running with the screen off and the app closed. A notification stays visible the entire time the camera is active, and you can stop the recording from it at any moment.

ENCRYPTED AS IT IS RECORDED

Most private recorders save an ordinary video file and then hide it in a folder. ShadowCam never creates that file. Video is encrypted while it is still being captured, with a key held in your device's secure hardware that cannot be copied off the phone. There is no unlocked copy to find, and nothing waiting in a cache folder.

Your recordings are never uploaded. No account, no sync, no cloud backup.

WATCHING IS ALWAYS FREE

Every recording plays inside the app for free, with no ad, online or offline. Seek and scrub as much as you like — video is decrypted in memory as it plays and is never unpacked to storage.

SAVING TO YOUR GALLERY

When you want an ordinary video file to share, back up or edit elsewhere, save it to your device gallery. Each saved video takes one short rewarded ad and needs a connection. One ad saves one video, and playback in the app stays free either way.

PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLING

- The encryption key is bound to this device. Uninstalling ShadowCam, clearing its data or resetting your phone destroys your recordings permanently. There is no recovery, no password reset and no backup. That is the trade for keeping your key out of the cloud.
- Saving to the gallery requires Android 10 or newer.
- Recording people without their knowledge is illegal in many countries, including much of the United States and Europe. You are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.

WHAT SHADOWCAM IS NOT

This is not a tool for monitoring other people. The launcher icon is never hidden, and the recording notification cannot be dismissed or switched off while the camera is live, so anyone holding the phone can see that it is recording and stop it. ShadowCam is for recording your own moments privately.

PERMISSIONS

Camera, to record video. Microphone, to record audio — optional, you can turn audio off. Notifications, which Android requires so that background camera use is always visible to you.
