Shajara: Family Tree Maker

Shajara is a family tree app that names every relative for you. Free, with no ads, works offline.

Add as many relatives as you like: the app works out how everyone is related to you, reminds you of birthdays and builds a family book. With Shajara Pro, your tree can look like a royal dynasty, a medieval chronicle or a watercolour painting.

• SEE HOW EVERYONE IS RELATED
Every card shows the person's relation to you and their dates. Father-in-law, sister-in-law, great-uncle — the app names everyone and adds a note: "paternal side", "wife's side".

• YOUR WIFE'S FAMILY IN ONE CARD
Your spouse's relatives don't crowd the tree: they fold into a "Wife's family" card that opens with a tap. Former partners fold away the same way.

• EVERY KIND OF FAMILY
Remarriage, divorce, widowhood, partners who never married, a child from another marriage — all recorded and drawn clearly.

• EXAMPLE TREE, HIGHLIGHTS AND MAP
The first launch opens an example family — look around, then remove it with one tap. Filters highlight all your uncles, your brothers or everyone born in one town. A map shows where your family has lived.

• SEVEN GENERATIONS
A dedicated screen for the direct line through your father or your mother: how many generations are known and exactly where the gap is.

• VOICES, PHOTOS AND STORIES
Dates can be found in an archive later; a voice cannot. Record a story in the app and attach it to the person. Photos, video and written stories too.

• BIRTHDAYS
Reminders that name the relation: "Tomorrow is your uncle Karim's birthday". Choose when to be reminded — a week, a day or an hour before, or all of them. Dates can go to Google Calendar too.

• FAMILY BOOK AND POSTER
One button builds a PDF: the tree, biographies with photos, stories, statistics and a map of places. A tree poster on A4, A3 or A2.

• BRING YOUR TREE FROM ANY PROGRAM
Import a GEDCOM file from Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilySearch, Gramps or any other genealogy program, and export your tree back the same way.

• SHAJARA PRO — MONTHLY, SIX-MONTH OR YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION
Everything a family tree needs stays free. Pro adds:
— five tree styles: royal dynasty, medieval chronicle, dark saga, watercolour and game world, each with its own touches: coats of arms and titles, seals and margin notes, family secrets, flowers for every generation;
— print-shop files with bleed, crop marks and a cover;
— your own QR code on the poster, or none at all;
— several family trees, for another family or an invented dynasty;
— a video of your tree growing generation by generation;
— tags, a home-screen widget with upcoming birthdays, and automatic backup copies.
Every Pro feature can be previewed before you buy.

• EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
The tree, photos and recordings are kept only on the phone and sent nowhere. No accounts, no ads, no analytics. The app goes online only to buy Shajara Pro through Google Play. To share the tree with relatives, send them a .shajara file — the photos travel inside it.
