Comments on Should I Eat This Fish? for Android

★★★★☆ Xeonic · Jul 3, 2019

It's a decent app I guess. It doesn't tell you what the results of the mercury tests were, just how many times a week you can eat the fish. More lakes need to be tested imo. But it's still a good app to have.

★★★★★ Erik Ellehoj · Jul 10, 2017

Provides current fish consumption information for Alberta water bodies. Very interactive and works where there is no data access like at a lake.

★☆☆☆☆ A Google user · Jul 19, 2018

That's it? 6 fish in the catalog? The fish I caught isn't anything like the ones listed.

★☆☆☆☆ Shane · May 2, 2026

The data collected is 14+ years old! The methyl mercury levels tested in the fat of fish can change within a year. Also, common fish like turbot and perch are not displayed as a fish in the said lake when an angler knows as a fact that that species is in there.

Users can find out if the fish they have caught has a consumption advice by selecting from a list of fish species and waterbodies in Alberta. Users may also be asked to provide the weight or length of the fish caught. Based on these selections, the app will inform users if they should limit the amount of fish they eat and what those limits are. Information in the app is based on the table of Recommended Fish Consumption Limits in Alberta, posted on the Open Government Portal website:
