works flawlessly. have been using it on lollipop, marshmallow, nougat, oreo, pie, no trouble at all. i always use custom roms. if this app doesn't work on your "new" phone then it's the rom, not the android version. use a rom with se linux set to permissive and no matter what android version you have, it will work. tested.

Says you need to root phone to connect to controller via Bluetooth. But I
can connect without rooting. The problem is that the app just won't work
without a rooted phone apparently.
