Great app. Of course, it lowers your score for any number of reasons. I would guess the majority of drivers that disagree with their Smartrek driving scores are distracted and do not drive defensively and carefully. Points of fact: Bluetooth phone use is still a distraction. Hard braking is usually due to following too close or driving too fast. Wrecks are more frequent at rush hour and at night. From observation and statistics most drivers on the road are unsafe and perhaps Smartrek will help.

Changing my review to a 4 star instead of a 1 star because over time it seems to get more accurate. It used to give me hard brake alerts for no reason and other weird things like that. The only thing is it gives you a bad score for phone use if you get out of your car immediately after parking and don't go on the app to "end trip". Also, city driving makes your score A LOT worse because you have to deal with all the unexpected things the dumb drivers do.

These scores need to have an explanation to them. What is provided is very generic and does not explain how you received a poor score. How can I receive a low score for smooth driving when there is nothing on the map indicating hard breaking or acceleration? The same goes for cell phone, speed and time of day. So confused how I receive a 90 or 91 for cell phone use when my phone is in my purse. Also, it states if you use hands-free Bluetooth in your car you will not be dinged for calls, untrue.

Looks more like a "tracking" app than an actual driving skills' app. Other insurance agencies have devices they hook up to your car for a couple of months and you're done. AAA you have to use it for a year. I have driven the same route for 6 years, what have I noticed? You go exactly the speed limit it won't help your score. I don't use the phone when I drive yet "phone habits" score in the low 90s? If you have a couple of days in the green the next couple of days to counter it, will be in the red.
