SMS Backup & Restore Pro is an app that backs up (creates a copy of) SMS & MMS messages and call logs currently available on the phone. It can also restore messages and call logs from already existing backups. This is a Paid no-ads version of the ad-supported free app.
Note: This app requires existing backups to be able to restore call logs and messages. It cannot recover anything without existing backups.

Purchased this Pro version to support development. And also to secure backups. Use archive mode backups on daily basis. #Tips: Would be nice to have backup of the settings of the app to restore settings if one uninstalls the app.

Can't open the XML file usefully on computer. Word shows lists of sms but nothing clickable, no text. Not Edge, NotePad, Office XML Handler, nor XML Editor. Can only open the XML on the phone, but it doesn't show photos. I checked "Attachments & Media" is on. But no attachments show when opening the XML. Ok, I see the attachments, but they only open full screen. Not useful. Need thumbnail inline with the texts. No one ever mentioned this? Will update if I am able to see thumbnails inline.

Frustration. It should be easy. 1. As instructed, I loaded the free version on new phone. 2. Tried to load same version on old phone but a pay wall screen demanded $6. Annoying but I need my text history, so I paid it 3. Set up a folder on Google Drive and did a successful save, msgs & call logs. 4. Did a recovery on new phone. It scanned and recovered a file from 2011! Trashed that 5. I can see the fresh XML files in Drive folder App sees nothing. Tried everything I can think of. No joy

Tried to restore my texts from my s23 to my s25. It saved some of the texts but I didn't save the photos. The texts it saved havw large gaps, seems like it saved the first 50 and the last 50 texts if that. Zero photos were saved as well

It does not properly read RCS on pixel 7. Used to be great, but something about the rollout of RCS across the carriers changed the way it handles RCS messages. It now groups many RCS conversations together as a single conversation in the backup.
