This is a handy (very) app to measure sound pressures in everyday situations. You may find damaging levels of noise where you'd least suspect it and safe (sometimes just borderline) where you'd think it would be harmful. I carry earplugs 24/7 and have good hearing at 66 in site of years of construction and noisy kids. This is handy tool to point out to others how to protect their one set of personal microphones.

Pretty accurate and easy to use and understand. Good examples for noise comparisons.

Measures sound. Doesn't try to be anything else. Perfection Odds are that you aren't getting absolute calibrated audio levels from this app but the relative values that it returns are accurate and consistent with itself. A distant church bell will always have the same audio level when measured from the same place. If you want something with a lot more functionality try "Spectroid" by Carl Reinke which is fully functional audio spectrum analyzer.

Is not accurate. Reads about 10 dB low on average.

Not impressed. Holding phone near roaring drill rig noise from which can penetrate through ear plugs and ear muffs put together and it showing "busy traffic" or 78 dB. Tried similar rated app and got 90-113 dB. Don't make me laugh...
