Description
Speech Timer was designed for timing speeches at Toastmaster International(tm) events.
There are a number of buttons for configuring standard predefined time settings for the green, yellow and red progress signals. You may touch a time setting display to adjust the time setting for a custom time value at any time before starting a speech.
Hitting "Start" will time the speech and progress through white, green, yellow and red progress signals, with an optional disqualification signal. Hitting "Stop" will stop the timer and display the speech time.
The first letter of the color is also displayed for color blind users. Sound and vibrate preferences are provided for blind speakers. A preference to control display of time during speech to better conform to Toastmaster International (tm) practices. Two custom time buttons may be configured in preferences.

Great app, one suggestion Has everything one would wish for, except one thing: Typically, the timer sits behind the timing device and can't see the screen. So he/she has to turn the phone around and push the stop button. This takes up to a few seconds. Better would be if the app could hook into the volume buttons to allow to stop the timer when any is pushed. This would also offer the option to use a Bluetooth headset as remote.

Barely more useful than Green, Yellow, and Red cards. There are at least 2 other apps that have this capability and all are as easy or easier to use. BUT MORE IMPORTANT... This timer is USELESS for Toastmaster speech contests!!! For ALL speech contests, there is no way to indicate silent periods with reverse sequence of RED and GREEN indicators. For the Evaluation Contest, there is no capability to time the "WORK PERIOD" so the Toastmaster knows when to wrap up contestant interviews and introduce the first contestant. Now comes the kicker. When I mentioned these shortcomings to Michael Dobbins, his reply to my email was, "I don't care." That's not my favorite Toastmaster reply. A better option is to get the Toastmaster Timer from Vivek Bhusal. His response was that he'd look into improving his timer.
