Stellavo: Sky Map & Star Guide

Stellavo shows you what you are looking at in the night sky and teaches you to find it on your own. Every calculation happens on this device; no internet connection, no account and no ads.

SKY
• The sky from where you are: about 9,100 stars, the lines and names of all 88 constellations, the Sun, the Moon with its phase, the planets and selected deep-sky objects
• Drag to look around, pinch to zoom, tap to select
• Move time forwards and backwards; keep the selected object centred as time runs
• Tonight: sunset, full darkness, how much of the Moon is lit, and the planets, stars and objects you can see now, with the best time
• Details: brightness, direction, altitude, distance; rise, highest and set times; how to find it using directions and your fist
• Search stars, planets, constellations and deep-sky objects
• Night vision: the whole screen turns red so your eyes stay dark-adapted

POINT AT THE SKY
• Hold your phone up to the sky; the map turns with your device and names the object in the centre
• An arrow shows which way to turn towards the object you are looking for
• Optionally show the camera view behind the map; nothing is recorded

LEARN
• 8 lessons: finding your way in the sky, Polaris, the Great Square of autumn, star-hopping to Andromeda, planet or star, phases of the Moon, why the sky turns, brightness and magnitude
• Each step turns the sky to the target and marks lines and stars; if the target is below the horizon, a better time is suggested
• Test yourself: name the blinking star

IDENTIFY PHOTO
• Take or choose a photo of the night sky; the stars are found and the app works out which part of the sky it shows
• Constellation lines, star names and deep-sky objects are drawn over your photo
• Works with photos where stars are visible and the field of view is between 12° and 100°
• Save or share the annotated image; the photo is processed on this device and never sent anywhere

PLACES AND FILES
• Offline list of cities, add by coordinates or use your location; your location is stored only on this device
• Save and share places, settings, lesson progress and photos as a .stellavo file
• Save the sky view as PNG; export a viewing time as a calendar file (.ics)
• Back up and restore

PRIVACY
No account, no ads, no tracking. Your location, photos and data stay on this device; nothing is sent to any server.
