Swim Guide is a website and smartphone app for iPhone® and Android. Swim Guide delivers free up-to-date water quality information for over 7,000 beaches, lakes, rivers, and swimming holes in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, the Bahamas, Australia and New Zealand.
Swim Guide provides you with current recreational water quality information for your favourite beaches and swimming holes. Every beach is marked with a Green or Red icon so you know when the water at your favourite beach is clean for swimming and when the water quality is failed to recreational water quality criteria.
As of 2018, Swim Guide is the most popular beach information service in the world, with nearly 2-million all time users.

Best app idea! Now I'm not scared to swim in a lake. This helped the family to find a beautiful, safe environment without the fear of contracting ear infections and such the following days. Knowing the beaches that test well consistently gave us all a fearless day of fun that we were able to completely prepare for our needs and itinerary in advance thanks to the thorough explanation of the resources and amenities available. Definitely made for a stress-free outing.

8 beaches showing in ireland. The beach I found the poster at isn't even listed. Is the app not syncing or you just don't have any beaches listed?

Very pretty app, but can be misleading I've noticed discrepancies between state run databases in the US and swim guide concerning beach advisories even though the icon on swim guide says "Current Status", which implies an almost real-time link. Not sure the app is as "real-time" as the developer makes it seem. Not sure I'm comfortable with swim guide also coming up with their own assessment of the swimming status. Great for beach discovery, but I would be cautious of their water quality claims and always call the local beach or consult other sources for up-to-date information.
