Synonymy is a game of finding the paths between random words through their network of synonyms. By taking the synonym of a word, and then a synonym of that synonym, and so on, you can ultimately arrive at any other word in the English language. (more languages forthcoming!)

The Full Game supports unrestricted multiplayer, and weekly challenges in which users can compete globally on set start and end words. Every time a path is uncovered by a user, it is tweeted from @synonymygame and posted to our Facebook page.
Synonymy is the first game by filmmaker Christopher Cinq-Mars Jarvis and is narrated by world-renowned author and biologist, Richard Dawkins.
All profits go to various charitable, education-based foundations.

A visualization of the game's network can be seen here -- http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/159329 -- In order to compute relative distance, all synonyms were mapped using 3d graphing software, as if each word were a planet that had a gravitational pull proportional to its number of relationships to other nodes. Above is a 2D representation of that model, a 40,000 x 40,000 image.

Love it In the world there are many apps few earn my 5-star rating. The reason this app does, as a writer, words are my source and produce. This app helps me connect disparate words in a coherent manner. It will help anyone gain a better understanding of the English language. The only knock I have is exiting the app, I can't find the exit tab or whatever passes for an exit mode.

Vocab and Thinking Process Builder Not just that you learn words, but also think ahead to what other options can lead to the original word, almost like a master Chess player or a detective. Building, deducing, sustaining links is what the game of LIFE is about too. :)

Layered display Impossible to play, one display is overlaid by the next, and the next, they never disappear. 3-4 screens in it looks like spaghetti!

Doesn't get past the title screen I would have rated these four stars based on playing it on my old phone (Samsung Galaxy s3 mini) (it was sometimes slow, but it worked well) but having reinstalled it on my new phone (samsung j5), it goes through loading and booting and then just doesn't respond once it gets to the start screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but there's no change.
