I used Trail app to check across all public transportation for planning and purchased tickets that are saved in my phone app. Worked perfectly! It had some learning curve due to how substation and main station were categorized. The stations are ordered in the order of arrival so clicking through surrounding stations helped to find the exact substation name.

Great app. A bit fiddly but has English option. Allows booking and even refunding train tickets. For HSR trains get the other app.

Easy to use and has good English. Most Taiwan apps are not in English but this one had it, and I had booked my train ticket and had it on my phone to use as a mobile ticket very easily.

This app does not consider ARC or Passport number than ID so foreigner cannot make account. This app is only for Taiwanese.

Cannot create new account for foreigner. If foreigner in Taiwan are NOT alowed to book train ticket, state clearly in the description.

The app offers English language setting. However, many of the translations do not fully communicate the message. Some trains you cannot use easy, and I cash card, the Mandarin version states this clearly. But the English version gives a broken confusing message. Getting on these trains by using one of these cards and without a ticket leads to a steep penalty. The app shouldn't offer an English version if it can't communicate meanings clearly.
