Description
Taketime is a series of relaxing, guided meditations based on the stories of Jesus. It offers free, Bible based, Christ centred, mindfulness meditations which use simple, focused prayer.
Accessible to everyone—especially those exploring faith—these meditations, originally inspired by Saint Ignatius, help you to both speak and listen to God. In this way they help with spiritual growth and stress reduction.
Joining a local or online Taketime group also enables you to develop spiritually as part of a safe and welcoming community, which focuses on scripture and experience, not doctrine.
The guided meditations on this website take you right through the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Taketime also trains and supports Taketime Practitioners to use the meditations in a variety of contexts.
Taketime was originally created by Reigate Methodist Church in response to the growing demand from those who have experienced the benefits of our meditations. These Christian meditations are now used extensively in Churches, Schools, Prisons, Hospital, Hospice and Later-life Chaplaincies and in spiritual exploration, discipleship and development.
Developed by Rev. Clive McKie, these meditations have evolved through his work in prison chaplaincy and church ministry. In 2018, Taketime received funding from the Methodist Church of Great Britain, allowing Clive, and Elizabeth, (our first part-time Project Administrator), to expand the initiative over three years. Since then, we have been supported by the South East Methodist District, the Redhill and East Grinstead Methodist Circuit, and the Benefact Trust, with a significant portion of ongoing funding coming from generous donations.
