Tattvas – your tattva clock

The tattva clock of Hindu tantrism, for you wherever you are.

Five tattvas — Akasha, Vayu, Tejas, Apas, Prithvi — follow one another in periods of 24 minutes, beginning at sunrise. Five of them make a cycle of two hours, and the cycle repeats until the sun rises again. The tradition holds that each suits a different kind of undertaking:

⬮ Akasha — meditation, thinking
● Vayu — travelling
▲ Tejas — work, eating, exercising
◡ Apas — favourable, short-term goals
■ Prithvi — most favourable, long-term goals

Tattvas works out sunrise for your exact position and shows which tattva is running, how long is left of it, and what follows.
