Tip Calculator

Tip Calculator works out the tip on a restaurant bill and divides the total between the people at the table.

Enter the bill amount, pick a tip percentage, add the names of everyone paying, and the app shows what each person owes.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Enter the bill total and choose your currency symbol (Rs., $, €, £ or ₹).
2. Set the tip with a slider from 0% to 30%, or tap a preset of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% or 20%. A summary shows the bill, the tip and the grand total as you adjust it.
3. Add the people sharing the bill.
4. Split equally, or switch to item-by-item splitting.
5. Review the per-person breakdown and share it.

TWO WAYS TO SPLIT

Equal split divides the bill plus tip evenly between everyone.

Item split lets you enter each item on the bill and tick which people it belongs to. Anything shared by the whole table is divided between everyone, and each person's tip is calculated in proportion to what they ordered. Any part of the bill you have not itemised is spread equally.

THE RESULT SCREEN

Every person gets a line showing their subtotal, their share of the tip, and their final amount. Totals are rounded to two decimal places.

SHARING

The share screen builds a plain text summary of the split that you can send through your messaging app, email or anywhere else that accepts text. Nothing is posted anywhere by the app itself.

BUILT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY

The app requests no Android permissions. Calculations run entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there are no accounts to create. Bill data lives only in the current session and clears when you close the app, so each new bill starts from a clean screen.

Light and dark themes both follow an ocean blue palette, and the interface is built with Jetpack Compose and Material 3.
