Tooling Calculator Free

Tooling Calculator is designed to be a simple way to find the tools needed to set up a press brake or other bending machines, to specific lengths.

It's not always easy to figure out the tools needed to take an inch dimension and find tools for it when a lot of tools are manufactured with metric lengths.

This app can take inch or mm. lengths and calculate the number of common tools and additional millimeters needed to achieve the length if you are using metric length tools.

Example:
I have a machine that has metric length tool segments as follows:
8 pc. @ 515 mm (These are my "Common Tools")
1 pc @ 200 mm
2 pc @ 100 mm
2 pc @ 100 mm (End tools that have cut outs for clearance)
1 pc @ 40 mm
1 pc @ 35 mm
1 pc @ 30 mm
1 pc @ 25 mm
1 pc @ 20 mm

Lets say I have a simple box with 4 bends all going the same direction and requires me to have a brake in the tooling of 47.5"

Enter values as follows:
Length in inches = 47.5
Common Tool Length = 515
End tools = 200 ( combined length of end tools)

Press "Calculate"
Calculator shows results of 2 pcs @ common tool length and 177 additional mm.

So I would be using 2@515 mm, + (1@100 mm, 1@40 mm, and 1@35 mm) = 175 mm

This would be a tool length of 47.42" since my tools are 2 mm smaller than the exact needed length.

If your bend requires the use of the end tools, simply check the box that says "Using End Tools?" and press "Calculate" again. This will calculate the tools needed with the end tool value subtracted. So in the example above I would need 1@515 + End tools + 492 mm.
