transcribe.free: Voice to Text

transcribe.free is a speech to text app for Android. Record audio with your phone, upload an audio or video file, or share a recording in from another app, and get an accurate transcript with a timestamp on every line. Convert voice to text in 100 languages, then export subtitles or plain text in one tap.

You can start without an account, and nothing you export carries a watermark.

HOW IT WORKS
Record or choose a file. The audio is sent to transcribe.free for transcription, and the app shows its progress, including your place in line when the service is busy. The finished transcript appears in your library, ready to read, copy or export.

RECORD AND TRANSCRIBE
Tap record to use your phone's microphone. When you stop, the recording is transcribed automatically. Use it as a voice recorder with transcription for lectures, interviews, meetings and voice notes.

AUDIO TO TEXT AND VIDEO TO TEXT
Pick a file from your phone, or share it in from your recorder, messaging or files app. Common audio and video formats work as they are. For a video, the speech in its soundtrack is transcribed.

100 LANGUAGES WITH AUTOMATIC DETECTION
Let the app detect the spoken language, or choose it yourself. Set a default language in the settings for the language you use most.

LONG RECORDINGS
Transcribe a whole lecture, a long interview or a full meeting in one file. The length you can upload depends on your plan, as listed under Daily limits and plans below.

TIMESTAMPS ON EVERY LINE
Every line shows when it was spoken, so you can find a moment in a long recording by reading instead of scrubbing.

SUBTITLES: SRT AND VTT
Export subtitles as SRT or VTT for your own videos, plain text as TXT, or structured data as JSON. Export files are created on your phone and shared straight to email, notes, cloud storage or any other app.

SPEAKER LABELS
On a paid plan, the transcript can label who is speaking, which helps with interviews, meetings and podcasts. Turn it on or off in the settings.

YOUR TRANSCRIPT LIBRARY
Finished transcripts are saved in the app's library on your phone and can be read offline at any time.

PRIVACY
The app does not keep the audio once the transcript comes back. On our servers, a file uploaded without an account is deleted within 24 hours together with its transcript. With an account, the audio is deleted within 72 hours. Your recordings are never used to train speech models. You can delete your account from inside the app.

DAILY LIMITS AND PLANS
Without an account: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes each.
With a free transcribe.free account: 5 files a day, up to 1 hour each.
Pro, billed monthly or yearly through Google Play, allows files up to 10 hours and adds speaker labels and a priority queue. Extra minute packs are a one-time payment, and the minutes never expire. Sign in with Google or with email to keep your plan and minutes on every device, and manage or cancel Pro in Google Play at any time.
