Description
TravelVu is a new way to collect data for travel surveys based on collection of GPS data through smartphones. This new method allows the collection of new types of data, and offers better trip precision compared to traditional survey methods.
Using TravelVu you can follow your daily trips and activities. The app provides you with an overview of your trips during the day and how long distance you have travelled with different modes per day/week/month. The app is available in English, German, French, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish.
To use the app, you need an invitation for a survey to participate in.
The app use GPS in the background while you are moving which has an impact on battery usage. In order to conserve battery while you are stationary, TravelVu will use the accelerometer to detect when you start to move again.

10 points for the idea of tracking travels, but the editing process is useless - if I delete a leg of the trip, the previous leg is joined with the next day's activities.

Thr experience of deleting an unknown activity is very bad. When I leave my phone around for a while I get an unknown activity in my log. Fine, I'll delete it. No, I can't do that. Deleting an unknown activity forces me to pick some other activity? So now when I left my phone around I apparently walked. I took a taxi home one night, got an unknown activity after getting home. I tried to delete, but apparently now I took a taxi ride for 8hrs going 1 km/h🤦

Download this app to help the research on travel patterns in Trondheim. Deteled after a week, because the data logged by this app is more than misleading. After a couple of hours the app dies and nothing is logged. I don't want to remember to enable this app, it should just work. Had to mark all days logged as "not correct". Also concerned about privacy issues and battery usage.

Easy if you have your phone with you and logging all the time, but adding manual travel is a real headache. Do everything, and it tells you it won't let you save. You try again, but same thing. Sometimes it won't let you move the position pointer on the map, sometimes it always snaps back to starting position.
